Skydiver 'Entangled' In Tree In PA (Photos)

Firefighters raised a ladder into a forest canopy Thursday evening to rescue a skydiver who had become tangled in their parachute, according to authorities.

It happened near the Pennridge Airport in Perkasie just before 5 p.m. on Thursday, July 20, the Sellersville Volunteer Fire Department said in a release.

Joined by Perkasie Fire Company, Sellersville first responders arrived at the scene to find the skydiver "entangled in the parachute and the tree limbs" some 35 feet above the forest floor, they said.

After halting air traffic, firefighters hoisted the ladder, removed the skydiver from their harness, and safely lowered them using the "tower bucket," Sellersville VFD said.

"There were no injuries and the airport resumed operations shortly after the rescue," said Pennridge Regional Police.

Perkasie-based Skydive Philadelphia said in a Facebook post that "everybody is okay."

"It was a first-time skydiver learning to jump that landed in the trees and got stuck up there for a little while," the business wrote. "Big thanks to the Perkasie Fire Department and all the responders for their help and professionalism."
